History of Helping Hands of Jackson County

The Ministerial Alliance of Jackson County was in need of a centralized distribution point to serve temporary and chronic needy citizens of our county.  Thus Helping Hands of Jackson County was organized in March of 1985.

Helping Hands is a 501(c)(3) organization.  It is governed by a board of directors made up of churches and civic organizations throughout Jackson County.

The organizations daily operations are overseen by the Executive Director.  Thankfully Helping Hands has been blessed with wonderful directors!  The first was Marcella Ramsbacher (1987-2018) and Kay Koop (2018-2022).  Marie Storz took over in October 2022 after the loss of Kay Koop.

Mrs. Ramsbacher was instrumental in the success of Helping Hands for so many years.  She worked tirelessly for many years to orchestrate all the aspects of the organization!

Helping Hands has resided in the same building at 324 E. Main Street, Edna, Texas since its conception.  Through grants and charitable organization giving, the organization has been able to maintain the building.
